A region with preserved natural and cultural heritage, the Monts du Lyonnais offers lovely walks, hikes and discoveries. Whether on foot or by bike, go and meet exceptional landscapes and a way of life based on authenticity.
The Monts du Lyonnais, a low-mountain region
Situated across the Loire and Rhône departments, the Monts du Lyonnais belong to the foothills of the Massif Central. Located to the west of Lyon, they provide an exceptional setting for your vacations and stays in France.
With a wide range of accessible accommodations, all in warm and authentic campsites, the region allows you to discover one of the most beautiful areas of France through its hiking routes, its sporting activities (horse riding, mountain biking, etc.) and its cultural heritage.
Cycle touring loops accessible to all
Designed to travel the region, seven cycle routes now run alongside the quiet country roads of the Monts du Lyonnais. Thanks to clear signage (route number, directional panels, next locality, etc.), you can enjoy a signposted and safe ride to discover the region’s wonders.
Open to everyone, whatever their level, these itineraries give you the chance to explore at your own pace and enjoy the scenery.
Choose your loop based on your preferences
While some loops focus on technical challenges and sport, others offer a route ideal for discovering the most beautiful villages of the Monts du Lyonnais. You just have to choose between sport and sightseeing.
A wide range of hiking trails
With its rolling landscapes, the Monts du Lyonnais region is full of small hiking trails leading to breathtaking views. Everything here is designed to let you walk the many paths and trails of the Rhône area by foot, by horse or by bike. Thematic walks then take you to discover the Camino de Santiago route, the Saint-Martin-la-Plaine zoo, visits to the hat museum or even the climbing site of Riverie.
A successful stay in every season
Although campsites fill up mainly during summer, this French region is perfectly suited for stays in low season. Autumn, for example, is ideal for touring the Monts du Lyonnais by foot or bike and admiring nature and its warm colors. Along forest paths or lakeside trails, you can observe nature resting and enjoy its soothing ambiance.
Further away, the region’s picturesque villages await you for a gourmet break with a hot chocolate, away from the summer crowds. But staying at Camping La Trillonnière, therefore in the heart of the Monts du Lyonnais region, also lets you enjoy an exceptional natural setting to visit Old Lyon and possibly Saint-Étienne, the design city.
